LOOK AT THE BIRDS retreat at Launde Abbey

Expect to see a good range of woodland, parkland and farmland birds around the abbey itself including Green Woodpecker, Whitethroat and Spotted Flycatcher. We also spend a full day at Rutland Water - a brilliant nature reserve with an impressive range of water birds, summering warblers and, above all, several pairs of Osprey! Seeing one fly overhead carrying a large fish was one of my 2021 retreat highlights. By contrast, our prize sighting at Rutland Water in 2022 was our surprise find of a Great Northern Diver swimming serenely and close up.
The Abbey is a delightful Christian retreat and conference centre, close to Oakham in the East Midlands. It's sited in historic parkland and situated in beautiful rolling countryside with several impressive ancient woodlands close by. It has lovely en-suite accommodation and wonderful cuisine which I personally recommend from our experiences in 2021 and 2022.
